Practical SEN support
SEN specialist in Malta: behaviour and inclusion support
I’m Rossella Ricchiari, a SEN specialist in Malta. I work with families, schools and organisations in person in Malta and online, in English or Italian.
How I can help
- Support for parents at home, with behaviour, routines, emotional regulation and communication.
- School and IEP support, covering IEP meetings, reports, classroom strategies and next steps.
- Support for schools and organisations, through training, consultation and practical guidance on including children well.
- Online consultations in English or Italian.
For longer reading, I’ve written guides on autism support in Malta, IEPs in Malta, ADHD in Malta and, in Italian, moving to Malta with a child with special educational needs.
How a first consultation works
Before we meet, you fill in a short questionnaire. It takes about two minutes and gives me some context.
Then we talk. You describe what’s going on, in your own words, and we look at what’s already in place at home or at school. You leave with practical next steps. That might be strategies to try at home, ideas for working with school, or guidance on what other support could help. Sometimes it’s help deciding whether ongoing support would be useful at all.
I don’t diagnose. I don’t assess for autism, ADHD or anything else, and I’m not a psychologist or therapist. If something needs a different professional, I’ll say so and point you towards the right service. I’d rather send you to the right person than try to be that person.
I have a Master’s degree in Autism and Developmental Disorders and almost a decade of experience in the field. [confirm: degree, institution and year; “almost a decade”] I currently lead SEN provision in the early years, supporting the development of individualised programmes, guiding staff, and working with families and other professionals.
